Section IV. Data Reports

I. Introduction

The following report presents data collected on the Lompoc service area in Santa Barbara County as part of the James Irvine Foundation's Initiative, "Developing Rural Integrated Systems." The staff of Healthcare Financial Solutions of San Francisco, California served as the data consultants for this data collection and analysis effort. This team was led by Steve Rousso, and included Nancy Huseby and Caroline Ogrey.

The data consultants were given a defined set of data items by the DRIS Initiative to collect on the Lompoc service area. This process was undertaken between July 1, 1997 and March 31, 1998, and included the collection of data from both primary and secondary sources. Efforts were made to obtain the most current data at a zip code level, to provide the community with detailed information which they may have previously not had access. Key data sources include:

  • Claritas, Inc.;
  • U.S. Census;
  • California Department of Health Services;
  • Employment Development Department;
  • Santa Barbara County;
  • California Highway Patrol;
  • Lompoc Health Services Survey;
  • Healthcare DataBank, Inc.

The following report contains standardized tables and exhibits which provide an area-wide overview of the data and will allow for comparison across all DRIS projects.
